When staying with us on St. Simons, you will need some additional items to make your stay as authentic as being a Golden Isles native. During the summer months, it gets hot here in southern Georgia. To help beat the heat, sunglasses, a hat, and some sunscreen are an absolute must.

Beach days can be long, but with organized preparation, it can make for the most enjoyable days of your stay. First & foremost, a full cooler packed for hydration with your favorite summer beverages is essential. Since you will want to spend all day in the sun, make sure you bring beach chair for personal comfort. And don't forget towels to lay on or dry off if you take a dip in the ocean. The sun rays that bounce off the Atlantic are strong, so be sure to bring lots of sunscreen, and chapstick is always a good idea, too. Sand buckets, shovels, swim goggles, snorkels, and other beach toys are always a great way to keep the kiddos occupied. Most importantly, make sure to have your camera to capture all the unforgettable memories that will be made.

Now... what to wear. If you are going to be beachin' or poolin' it, make sure to bring favorite swimsuit, coverup, and flip flops or sandals that you don't mind getting a little sandy. Summer temperatures are going to be in the 80s & 90s, so short-sleeved, breathable clothing is going to be most comfortable. If you go for a late night walk on the beach, it may get a little windy, so a light jacket may not be a bad idea for the cooler nights. Sundresses are always a classic choice, suitable for both a day-time shopping spree or a relaxing dinner with cocktails. For the golfer, pack a nice polo and khakis if you decide to squeeze in a round. And if you forget something, you can always buy it at one of the many trendy stores & boutiques on the island.
