An Author's Paradise
Saint Simons Island is well loved for its coastal beauty, and became a major source of inspiration for popular novelist Eugenia "Genie" Price, who, upon visiting Saint Simons Island on a book tour, became inspired by the graves of Anson Dodge, his wives Ellen and Anna, and his child, Genie while wandering through Christ Church cemetery. The findings and the magic spirit of Saint Simons Island catalyzed Eugenia to write her first book about Saint Simons, titled Beloved Invader—which was just the beginning of many books based upon her historical and modern findings about life on Saint Simons Island. Having passed away in 1996, Ms. Price herself is buried in Christ Church cemetery.
